Philadelphia Area HR Executives Meet
On May 15th at Comcast headquarters a group of 25 Human Resources executives met around a conference table to discuss HR issues. Among the group were representatives from companies like Virtua, Prudential and Comcast. The first issue on the table was talent. Comcast, VWR, Virtua and Prudential discussed focusing on how to do work vs specific technical skills and what the workers do. Another topic was succession planning and how companies are looking to hire athletes. They described how research shows what companies need talent with high social and emotional intelligence. Along with talent they discussed pre-employment and using certain assessment tools to gauge potential talent. Several of these companies stated that they had success with this and they also described how the good candidates like thi8s process while bad candidates dislike it. The last topic on the agenda was how vendors like Aon Hewitt, DDI, Caliper, Workday, PeopleSoft and SAP have tools that HR leaders in attendance are using for talent assessment and management.
