HR Director Teaneck, NJ Contract

Our client has an immediate need for a contract (possibly to direct hire) HR Director for a municipal government in the Teaneck, NJ area.

This City government has over 400 employees and over 100 part-time employees during the summer. They also have 30,000 residents.

This position requires experience in all functional areas. (recruiting, talent management, compliance, compensation and benefits). Must have experience with the following or similar to the following departments – building and code enforcement, police, fire, parks and recreation, public works, etc.

This is a 100% on-site role and you must live in NJ (due to government regulations).

Exposure to labor negotiation preferred (city has 10 unions).

Compensation and Compliance are top priorities – ensuring internal equity and external competitiveness, dealing with current and potential future compliance charges.

Initially the Director would do an assessment of HR department to determine strengths and improvement needs. A lot of processes are manual and would need to be converted to electronic/information systems.

Position will have 3 direct reports

Ideal candidate is a strong leader, decisive , have strong analytical skills while being personable and approachable.
